Today, it still takes seven years to diagnose a patient suffering from a rare disease, and more than 95% of rare diseases do not have approved treatments. Artificial Intelligence plays an essential role in faster and better diagnosis and in developing new therapies. In this talk, Prof. Dr. Carsten Ullrich will give an overview of how CENTOGENE, a company focusing on rare diseases, uses the whole range of methods of AI from business rule management systems to auto-encoders for a wide range of tasks, from improving efficiency and quality of diagnostic processes to the analysis of high-dimensional multi-omics data (genomics, metabolomics, phenomics) for identifying drug target candidates. Prof. Dr. Carsten Ullrich serves as the Director of Artificial Intelligence at CENTOGENE GmbH, where he applies AI solutions to further support and improve the diagnoses processes and to generate new knowledge about rare diseases. Carsten holds the Chair of Artificial Intelligence at Steinbeis University Berlin. This is an in-person event held on the AI Campus.
